ConnectWise Cloud Backup (formerly SkyKick): backups temporarily suspended

Identified
Affects: Connectwise cloud services
  • Update

ConnectWise has not yet provided an expected recovery date for Cloud Backup. As a result, no new Microsoft 365 backups are being made.

We are no longer waiting and are actively moving customers to uBackup, the European backup service of Universal.Cloud. All Universal.Cloud customers can use it, and switching is possible immediately. We will cancel your ConnectWise subscription on your behalf as soon as the ConnectWise portal is accessible again.

Would you like to switch? Create a ticket in the portal or contact [email protected]. More information: https://universal.cloud/nl/blog/article/connectwise-cloud-backup-service-interruption

For customers who do not want to wait until the ConnectWise service is available again, Universal offers a migration to an alternative backup solution. Please contact [email protected].

  • Update

ConnectWise has published a guide with checks and remediation steps for Microsoft 365 environments that use Cloud Backup: https://www.connectwise.com/contentassets/10777cd3364d440c86ed5270a94a5f24/connectwise-cloud-backup-technical-investigation-and-remediation-guide-1.pdf

For customers with a Security as a Service contract, Universal carries out these checks. We advise customers who manage the security of their own Microsoft 365 environment to carry out these checks as well. Would you like help with this? Submit a request for assistance via [email protected].

  • Identified

As a precaution, ConnectWise has temporarily suspended its Cloud Backup service (formerly SkyKick Cloud Backup) while it investigates a security issue on its own platform. While the service is down, no new backups of Microsoft 365 data are being made. According to ConnectWise, existing backup archives are not affected; they will be accessible again once the service is restored. This is an issue within the ConnectWise platform; Universal's systems are not affected. We are monitoring the situation closely. The current status at ConnectWise can be followed at https://status.connectwise.com

Shared web hosting taken offline as a precaution due to critical PHP vulnerability

Resolved
Affects: Shared webhosting
  • Resolved

The PHP security update has been installed successfully. All websites on our shared web hosting are back online and working normally. Still noticing an issue? Please contact [email protected].

  • Update

The PHP security update is now available. We are installing it on our shared web hosting now. We expect this to be completed around 17:26; after that we will test the websites and bring them back online step by step. Until then, the websites remain offline.

  • Identified

As a precaution, we have temporarily taken the websites on our shared web hosting offline. This is due to a critical vulnerability in PHP (known as PHP2Shell, CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) that allows attackers to execute code remotely on web servers. No security update is available yet; the PHP team has announced one for today. Hosting providers worldwide are taking similar measures. As soon as the update is available, we will install and test it and bring the websites back online. Questions? Contact us at [email protected].
